OK, I am about at my wit's end...

I bought MyGarage to add to my AHP installation.  Since that time, I cannot run anything that has email or internet capabilities (MyGarage, MyHome, etc)

I installed on Windows XP - happened there.
- Nuked machine, installed Windows 7 Starter N, installed software - SAME ISSUE
- Nuked Windows 7, installed XP Pro clean, installed software - SAME ISSUE

I cleared the CM15a interface memory, reset it completely.  Deleted my AHX file and rebuilt by hand.  Went into the registry, drivers, etc and forced re-installation.

When I am able to get the MyGarage plugin working, it is only to configure the plugin.  Since I cannot invite a cell phone (this causes the crash),  open the dialog box, and click on the link in that message, opening the MyGarage interface from iw.x10.com/garage - and I get "500 Error - Server not Found".  However, if I select plain text email, it will not crash (although I still get the 500 error)

Um, what the heck am I doing wrong here?  I just got another 20 switches and whatnot to continue the automation process, but this is getting ridiculous...

I did get a CM19A with another kit I picked up - should I dump the CM15A for the CM19A?  What transceiver do I need in order to be able to have the same functionality using the CM19A?  I have a dedicated machine that will run 24/7 anyways.,...

You need a transceiver, either a TM751 or an RR501 with a CM19A since it not transceiver equipped.  The CM15A is.

Well the CM15A is the better of the two interfaces.
The CM19A as Dan mentioned would need a Tranceiver to send X10 signals back on the power line.
The CM19A has no way to see X10 signals on the power line to trigger things like macros.
The CM19A has no memory in it so any choice in AHP to download timers and macros doesn't happen.
Though I believe if AHP knows it is on a CM19A it will run the timers and macros normally downloaded to the CM15A that does have memory in it.

Don't worry - we'll help you through this as best as we can. Luckily it's my day off, so I can help troubleshoot.

I would keep the CM15A.
A few reasons why:
a) It's an All House Code Transceiver. If you decide you want your Garage stuff on "G", and your Lights on "L", it can pick up both. It can do all 16 of the possible letters, A-P. The CM19A, although good (not great), would need one Transceiver (TM751 or RR501) for each house code you would want to use it with.
b) It sends signals directly over the Power Line (PLC), and can send RF if needed.
c) The CM15A can store Timers and Macros. That can let you shut that 24/7 PC down if you don't need access to the Web Apps, or if there's a power outage and your PC doesn't come back on right away for whatever reason.


So let us know what software you have, and if you recall what order you installed it in. Sometimes that can make all the difference!

I am running version 3.279, and have MyHome, ActiveHomePro, iAlert, MyGarage, and SmartMacros.

Actually, I have neither.  I have standard MyGarage, and no iWatchMobile...

Don't worry - we'll help you through this as best as we can. Luckily it's my day off, so I can help troubleshoot.

Yeah, I am going to keep the CM15A, I was just frustrated as all get out earlier - oh well   The other reason I need the PC on all the time is it runs my web/ftp server that I use to run the iphone/HTML5 app I have been writing with the help of the SDK...

So I went through AGAIN and did the following:

1) In AHP, wiped the hardware memory.  Then removed batteries, and set aside the CM15a.
2) Rebuilt XP (glad I have a scripted install) and installed in this order:
  - AHP
  - Smart Macros
  - MyHouse
  - OnAlert
  - MyGarage
3) No other software is installed at all - just Windows updates, but they were done before the AHP installation.
4) After AHP was installed, I reconfigured everything by hand from scratch - so there was nothing that would be coming over from a bad installation.  Saved to new config, uploaded to the CM15a.
5) Same issues.  And I even re-downloaded the installation files.

I have X10Dispather running to confirm the PLC/RF activity is being rec'd, but this does not seem related to the crashing.

It looks like iWatchOut is part of the issue, but I have not installed it and I don't have a license for it...

Interesting.
For notifications, press "Notify" at the top right or bottom right of any thread view.

Close ActiveHome Pro. Open up Task Manager, go to Processes, slevet X10Nets.exe, end process.

Go to C:/Program Files/ActiveHome Pro. (Programs Files(x86) if you're using 64-bit,  )

Open up AHP_plugins.XML using Notepad, and if you see a line referencing ANT.DLL, remove it for the purposes of testing, and save the file.

Open up ActiveHome Pro, try again.

ANT.DLL is MyHouse Online, and I just want to see if it's the one causing the issue. If that doesn't fix it, try removing the reference for AVX.DLL which is iWatchOut.

Looks like your software install order is good, but there does seem to be something funny going on. Also good to know that even the standard MyGarage includes the use of te iw.x10.com reflector server.
I'd imagine the URL it gives you in the interface has the security key and everything too? (ie. Is the box that says "Use Security for..." checked off).

Here is the ahp_plugin.xml file as it was before I changed it.  To your point, ant.dll is indeed referenced, but avx.dll is not.

With the ant.dll reference removed, I can now send the email invitation, and at least internally my garage "remote" is working - thanks!

As for use of the reflector server, I am thinking that standard MyGarage does NOT, but they for some reason left the pointer there.  To be honest, it is not that important in the short term to me since I am working on my own iPhone app (just for my own purposes) to be able to do all this remotely...  Truth be told, I bought MyGarage because I wanted iAlert, and this was the least expensive way to get it

Now all I need to do is figure out how best to extend my RF to the second floor (tm751's?) and I am 90% done infrastructure wise.  Then it's all configuration and new coolness

Also, while I have you, how do I extend the RF coverage for the DS10's?

My CM15A in the basement can now "hear" DS10A's from my top floor with the simple, non-warranty cooing mod.

Gotcha - and thanks for the fast reply!  I am definitely someone who likes to tinker, and this is a BAD thing for me to have in my hands   In the last two weeks, I have replaced nearly every wall switch, and will be venturing up into the attic to start wiring for video.  I expect that these sorts of things will happen, it is just frustrating that there is no record in a wiki or something of the sort...

I know the feeling. Before I got started with X10 at the start of September, I had spent about a month reading everything I could, top to bottom. Books from the library, forums, manuals, you name it.

At first I had never replaced a wall switch, then I learned to replace them, put in new fixtures, mapped out all the breakers in the house, etc...  My parents live it as I've become quite the handyman!

Well, I hvave been banging around in the system, and I found where ant.dll was used, and now have run into another issue related to our removal from the XML file.

It seems ant.dll is the email component for SmartMacros, as that functionality has been removed (email as an alert).  This is not a HUGE issue, but it is a pain in the butt.  Any ideas how to address this?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to Anthony's message...

Are you receiving the email when you invite a cell phone?  ant.dll contains all of the functions for networking and sending email so it must be installed and registered somewhere for the mobile apps and emails to function.  Though, it does not need to be registered as a plug in in the ahp_plugin.xml file.  It sounds like you might have an ant.dll installed and registered on your system somewhere else which is conflicting with the one in your AHP install directory.

The email alert macro command is actually part of the MyHouseOnline plug in (line <plugin id="AHXANT" href="ant.dll"/> in your xml file).  It requires smart macros in order to get to a point in the macro editor where the command could appear.  There is no way to enable the command without the plug in installed since SmartMacros by itself can not email.
