Help needed
« on: December 01, 2010, 11:38:53 PM »

I'm considering buying the instinct remote. Here is my equipment;
Sony Bravia tv
Dish VIP 722 sat receiver
Bose freestyle audio
Sony DVD
Will this remote be able to turn on all three components with one button? Will it be able to control the bose volume? What about the dish dvr?

Thanks in advance

Lets compromise.
It uses one IR remote, and one UHF remote for the TV not in the same room as the 722.   :'

The Instinct will not control the Dish receiver from a different room.

I would call X10 Customer Support and ask them if the Instinct has profiles for Bose equipment. Regardless the Instinct *should* be able to learn the commands from the original remote if it is IR.

Actually, Dish supplies two remotes, I am referring to the 5.3ir, not the 5.3 ir/uhp pro.

I don't have any Bose equipment so I can't guarantee anything, however I did just check my remote and it does have "Bose" listed as a band under the Audio category.

You should be able to program at least one power button, if not using the QuickPower function.
QuickPower is pretty convenient. It lists all te devices you have programmed on the screen and gives you a power button for each on the side of the screen.

Hope you enjoy it!

Can one button be programmed to turn on and off the tv, dish receiver and sound system all at once?

Dlh, Yes.

You actually do it with the learn function, so you'll set it to learn the key you want to use, then you can tell it to add a delay (optional, I didn't need any delay, there's already a half second to second delay) and then another key, then a delay, then another key, ect.  For my setup I have it turn on the TV, Cable and Stereo with the main power button when the remote is in cable mode.  Unfortunately, that means I had to record just the Cable's power button as a new button so that I could turn it on/off independently of the rest of the devices but I rarely use that.
