Are CM15 RF transceiver and S3160 incompatible?
« on: December 29, 2010, 08:27:54 AM »

Hello

I'm starting myself on home automation and discovered X10. After 1 week googling I dedided to place an order of CM15 to act as a RF transceiver and computer controller and four S3160E modules, but someone told me that S3160 doesn't accept signal from the CM15 as a RF transceiver and that I would need to buy TM13 (and switch off that function from CM15). That's not compatible with the information on CM15 manual:

Do Marmitek ActiveHomePro and CM15Pro work with all my existing X-10 modules and switches?
Absolutely. ActiveHomePro and the CM15Pro are using the Marmitek X-10 protocol.

Does Marmitek ActiveHomePro need a separate transceiver (TM13 or IRRF7243)?
No. The CM15Pro has a built-in transceiver that constantly monitors all 256 X-10 addresses.

Can you help me please?

Thanks in advance

Did you buy a CM15Pro or the American CM15A?

Both can send the standard X10 power line signals to the S3160.

The BIG difference is the RF frequency used to tranceive remotes to the power line.

The CM15A uses the X10 US frequency of 310MHz.

The CM15Pro for Europe, uses your standard 433.92MHz. So a European remote will not work with the CM15A only with a CM15Pro.

If you bought the CM15Pro it will receive all 256 addresses from a European remote and send them back on the power lines.

Hi Brian,

Didn't bought yet, wanna do it this week. But it will be the CM15Pro. Someone told me X10 allways sends two signals over the powerline, but that the RF transceiver has an issue: it sends two signals with too much delay, and the module interprets them as two different orders (as so, closing it with a remote would only close a little bit). Besides, tey told me that the S3160 doesn't accept dimming, as so, I can only put them all up and all down. But the manuals say the opposite!?

I just want them to be programed to close at 1am and open at 7am, no matter how much they open. Besides that I would like to have the chance to close and open them all pushing only one button, probably with a remote. Is it possible?

Try finding the S3160 manual online.
The one I found says an On will open the shutters all the way.
An Off will close the shutters all the way.
A dim will partially close the shutters.
A bright will open the shutters part of the way.

Manual for S3160 here:
http://www.eurox10.com/Product/Micromodules/Actuators/S3160M.htm

Allmost all X10 commands are two. The address like A1 then function AOn.
I believe the RF remotes send the comand set twice.
I am not sure if the CM15Pro and the TM13 would handle the remote commands differently.

Unfortunately we don't have things like the Micro Modules here and can not give you hands on experiences with them.
The manual does indicate you could even use an added push button the close and open the blinds. Besides using power line commands from the timers in the CM15Pro or a RF remote.

I will place my order and make a try. The worst I expect it's to buy a TM13 thereafter and shutdown the RF function of CM15

Sounds like a good way to go.

My gut feeling is the TM13 will not be needed.

Let us know how it works out.
