XPS# and XPSS Three/3 Way Installation
« on: January 10, 2011, 09:27:37 PM »

So, I don't normally ask a lot of questions. Let's have a go at helping Anthony with this one.

Three way switches. I have an XPS3 and an XPSS that I'd like to use for a ceiling fan in my stairway.

First box has three switches. The first switch on the left is the three way. Black, white, and red wires. Red is attached to the common terminal, and it tested as hot.

Second box is the other three ways witch (closer to the fan, upstairs). Two black wires and a white wire. Red and white wire nutted together in the back of the box. I forget which tested as what.

It is my understanding then (from the X10 instructions), that I cannot complete the installation. Reason? I only have White neutral wires capped off (available) in the first switch box, but not in the second that goes to the light.

I also know that the instructions suffer from inverse air pressure, so I'm posting here to ask if that is indeed the case.  :D
