Is a driver required for CM17A?
« on: January 12, 2011, 05:59:16 PM »

Is a driver required for a CM17A or is it just serial commands as I assume?

Thanks

No driver. It uses serial signals but it does it in a strange way.
Toggles the handshakes to do things.

Thanks, I already had that info, I doing am embedded controller for X10 and have some CM17A that I am going to test with before I do the USB embedded version which will take a lot more microprocessor programming.

You are welcome.
If you ever want to see the schematic of the CM17A it is on the FCC web site. So is the CM15A.

Hey thanks, I at the FCC site now but can't seem to find a schematic, do you have a link?

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm

B4S is Grantee Code
Use CM for the Product Code and it will find all the X10 devices with a CM in the ID.
If you have the exact FCC number it can also be used to find just the CM17A or CM15A.
Some of the cameras, remotes and other RF goodies are also there.
Pick details.

Toggles the handshakes to do things.

And I believe it gives some of the USB/RS232 adapters trouble.
I've read that on the HeyU forum.

FWIW.
