Interference = no picture some times
« on: March 06, 2011, 07:35:19 PM »

I got a color x10 wireless camera. When i set it up it was working, a few dys later i was getting no picture just lines kind of similar to a tv with no antenna hooked up to it. A few dys later it was working again, then a few dys later its now not working and hasnt been for about a wk.

I unplugged everything around the camera, the cordless phone base. Do i have to actually remove the phone or is unplugging the base enough? I do have a wireless network but the router is in the basement and the camera is on the 2nd level.

I have the camera plugged into an outlet on the 3rd level, i used an extension from radio shack to make the power long enough and slid it out the window, the camera is near the front door.

I bought the plug filter from ebay, and plugged it in to the tv but that did not help either

Do you have any other X10 devices using the same House Code and Unit Code Group {1-4,5-8,9-12 or 13-16} as the camera?
If you turn on any X10 device in the same Unit Code Group. The camera will turn Off.

If you only have one camera.
Next time the signal gets lost. Unplug the cameras power supply. Wait maybe thirty seconds and plug it back in. They default to On and if it got switched off somehow. The power reset should turn it back On.

Possible the wireless network picked a new channel and was stepping on the cameras signal.

I took the camera down from where it was so i could better mess with it. I tried those steps nothing worked i changed it from channel A to D on the camera and the power supply. This is my only camera. This is the only item that is not in range of anything else [still doing cm15 mod] so there should be no interference. I changed the wireless channel on my network. I removed the power extension cable as well and still doesnt seem to be working. Pan and tilt does not work with remote either. I am at a loss.

Don't confuse the RF channels A-D with the House Code A-P dials on the power supply. They are completely different.
The Channel A-D picks the RF frequency the video is sent to the receiver that also should be set to the same A-D channel.

The A-P House Code on the addressable power supply. Sets the X10 address to turn it on and off.
The pan and tilt is also controlled by the addressable power supply. So if it got turned off. Pan and Tilt will also not work.

Gotcha, alright i have the RF channel set to the same as the receiver. I have the house code set to B, everything else is on A. I left it unplugged and tried it, nothing works. I have the remote set to the same house code and it does not move the camera. I tried plugging the power supply directly into camera bypassing tilt and still nothing. No picture no movement. I guess this camera is dead.

The camera or the power supply maybe dead.
The supply should default to On when plugged into the wall outlat.
So even with no On command you should get a picture and if it was through the pan and tilt base. It also should have moved.
