I have the ms14 and i had the cm15 in my hallway. The motion sensor would trigger the socket rocket. The light would come on instantly whenever i was in that area.

I had just opened the cm15 and let the antenna hang out, and now IT WORKS from my room which is 15ft away which before it did not work. But now the motion sensor does not work as well, it seems as though the range has been reduced for motion detection but range for cm15 has been increased.

Unit has FRESH batteries

Try taping the antenna to the outside of the case. So it is pointed up and not hanging down.

Motion sensor range can be effected area illumination, ambient temperature, and sensor angle. Any of these things change?

Yes i did remove it while i was testing. Guess i didnt put it back exactly where it was.

Typically all consumer grade motion sensors are sensitive to infrared spectrum of light. Essentially they look for heat moving across the field of vision. So if ambient temp is close to the temp of the moving body, it is more difficult for the sensor to detect the moving body. Same is true when direct sunlight, or a bright incandescent light, which contains a lot of infrared light shines directly into the sensors field of view.
