More component "sticker shock"...

I've been working on another round of orders.  Most components come from Mouser, but I use several other distributors too.  Many of the components have increased in price - some substantially.  Not one price has gone down.  Some examples:

Kemet Capacitors from Mouser:

   1000 pF 10%   .13 to .32 below 100 pieces.  How about a 250% increase!
   2700 pF 5%   .33 to .48
   5600 pF 5%   .40 to .67
   6800 pf 5%   .66 to .82
   .47 uF 20%   .29 to .49

Fairchild zener diodes from .04 to .10.  Another 250% increase.

Analog devices AD817AN op-amp from 4.05 to 5.54 at Digikey.

Some of these increases can be mitigated by buying even larger quantities than normal.  Others will just have to ripple down to the kit prices.

(Several of the items are back ordered until October or November.)

Unfortunately so true.
The company my Brother works for is finding the same price jumps and back orders.
In his case. Really difficult to price out a new product for the overseas conglomerate. That want exact parts costs justified.  ???

Jeff,

I haven't  compared prices at the parts outlets, but one that I have used for some parts has been Jameco.  I have no idea if they have the parts you need, but it may be worth a look.

I haven't compared prices at the parts outlets, but one that I have used for some parts has been Jameco.

Jameco is a good place for hobbyists, and can also have better prices than the distributors at low quantities.  I usually order large enough quantities so that the distributor price is equivalent or even lower than the Jameco price.  But I have purchased some components from them.

Unfortunately, the components that I have trouble with are not carried by Jameco.

Thanks for the suggestion though.  Before I place these orders, I will check Jameco again.

Just an update:  Prices for the XTB-IIR components increased about $13 since last year.  Increases for the other units were less.

This will get worse as the dollar weakens vs Eastern currencies.

Update:  First increase in XTB-IIR price since its introduction:  + $10.

I held it to that by finding better prices than Mouser on some components.

No increase on the others ... yet.
