not a valid Win32 application
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:01:01 PM »

Help I'm installing the Active Home Pro on my computer and getting "not a valid Win32 application"

I'm trying to set up with "SW31A setup0.832773587756918.exe"

I discovered the modules are plugged into the USB, I'm going to try again with them unplugged after rebooting.

Modules (lamp and appliance) CANNOT be plugged into USB, they are plugged into outlets.

What version of AHP and what interface?

Hi
I know modules don't plug into USB no plug for it.
Its a new Active Home Pro CM15A that will program control house lighting. I also have the modules and programs for video surveillance, and home security for motion and window door sensors. The programs will phone call my cell phone on intrusion, video it and I can go back through the internet and view the stored or live video.

This is all current system delivered Friday so I have no tech support to ask questions.

I tested out the AHP program on my laptop and it worked fine being a win XP. Now I went to load the program on an older computer running win 2000 and I get the "not a valid Win32 application" message. So now I'm trying to figure out how to proceed.

Thanks for your reply.

I had tried the original AHP with the old Cm11 interface with Win 2000. I never did get it to work. I was never impressed with the stabilty of 2000 for other applications as well. You could probably save a lot of frustration upgrading to at least Xp on the second PC?

I don't have the time to go get another program just for x10 as this needs to be up and running by Thursday and I am in rural Maine.  It is not the Windows 2000 because I've run this machine many years and and I cannot find any associative errors yet.

I have had x10 products in my home since the early 80's stuff works fine just replace controllers when they fail. Now I make a decision to go all out. I hope my luck gets better with some support.

Hi Brian
I'm running windows 2000 on a pentium 550. I tested The ActiveHome Professional Software: on my windows xp laptop, and

now I get "W31A setup0.832773587756918.exe is not a valid Win32 application"

I've tried the original download file and get the same message.

Hello Brian H are you still there.

I have been scanning my computer, looking at error logs, and cannot find any problems that exist and still cannot load the x10 Active home program without the reply that the setup is not a valid Win32 application. I even re-downloaded the program and tested again with my windows xp laptop which loads the program.

Is there anyone in your organization that can help me determine why my computer will not load the setup program.

I try calling X10.com and wait on hold without a response. If I cannot load this program my purchase is nothing but a waist of money and I will reluctantly have to return everything due to the lack of support in resolving my problem.

Since this is a user to user forum.
Don't expect any responses from any X10 employees here.
Though from time to time the X10 software programmers do chime in.

There are many knowledgeable software users here and I would hope they can get you an answer.

Thanks Brian Your Logo says expert advisor and I assumed you were part of the X10 support.

I've been looking for any type of conflict on my computer and have yet found any.

Try deleting your temp internet files.  Also you might try a different browser.  If your using IE download firefox and try it.  I just read this on a Google search.  Might help, might not.  I've also ran into some virus's and spyware that can cause this.  Good luck!

You might also try downloading from the alternate link, here:
ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/activehomepro/setup_AHP.exe

The installation requires a live internet connection.
The file you download is a small installer, that actually downloads and installs the complete program from X10's servers.

You might also try this (it has worked for the same error on newer version of Windows):

Take a look in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\X10 Settings"

Try deleting or renaming the "x10active.xml"  file in that folder, then restarting the installation.

Make sure that the user you are installing as has full administrator permissions.

That might work (no promises).
