I was setting some X10 module up in my Brothers theater room and there are 2 circuits, one for all the lower outlets and one for the upper lights and a couple outlets on it as well.
I am using a TM751 transceiver and I have tried lamp modules and appliance modules and cannot get them to work on the upper circuit at all.
I plugged the transceiver into one outlet, and a app module to the next outlet 10 feet from the first one on the came circuit and it will not work? It works fine on the lower outlets.
I thought it might be a problem with the phases but I am not trying to go across them, I am on the same phase/circuit.

There is nothing turned on in the circuit when I am trying it, and there are only incandescent lights wired to it which I wouldn't think would make noise when turned off?

Any ideas what to try?

Have you verified that all the outlets are on the same circuit?
It is not uncommon to have more than one circuit in a room.

Yes they are on the same circuit as I am the one that wired them up

Could there be any noise producers on the circuit?  And are you using AHP?

Not that I cant think of other than lights but Im going to check again to make sure. Im not using active home, just a transceiver and module.

1. Unplug everything and try again. Many electronic gizmos (a technical term) plugged in but turned "off" still have switching power supplies buzzing away to power the remote control.
2. Is the overhead incandescent bulbs and the two outlets the only things on that circuit all the way back to the panel?
3. Are you sure the two outlets are on the same breaker? (Yeah, I know you said they were, but an X10 signal not being able to make it 10 feet to control the appliance module says there is a very nasty signal sucker, or hideouse noise source, nearby on that circuit but you indicate it is nothing but the two outlets and incandescent lights so  there must be something you are missing.

Yes I am sure they are on the same breaker, they are hidden behind the Theater screen and the wire going from the one to the other is visible. There is nothign to unplug, all the lights on that circuit are flush mounted can lights wired in.

I got the power for the lights from above the room in the attic. I need to go over and turn the breaker off and see if there are any other outlets or something in the house that are on the same breaker but I dont think there is.

How do you trigger a TM751 with no software of any kind?  The 751 cannot trigger itself, it converts RF signals to powerline signals to control modules.

Probably using a remote Dan.

yes, I am using a  HR12A remote, I also have a keychain remote as well.

Home theater. Like a big LCD or Plasma TV? Surround sound and audio processors.
Are they on the same circuit as the problem modules?
If so try disconnecting the AC to all the electronics in the home theater and see if the modules then work.
You maybe needing some X10 filters for noise makers and signal suckers.

None of that stuff is on the same circuit, plus I tried unplugging it all just to check. i tried filters and it didn't help. I haven't been able to go over to his house yet to do any more diagnosing.

Have to be filters designed for X10. Standard ones along with some surge strips. Absorb X10 signals as noise.
