I have a HA125 controller module and have had never ending problems with activehome comms between computer windows Xp and the controller.  I have since tired using activehome pro on a different computer and it wont detect my controller module.

Winplus HA125 is what you have?

Are you using the USB Dongle in the kit or using the 4P4C to DB9 serial cable. Supplied here in the US with the CM11A?
It came with Active Home Software not Active Home Pro?

Active Home Software was known to have serial communication's issues in XP.
I will check my notes on things to try.

What region of the world are you from. It may help in finding answers. As X10 devices have different model numbers and software available in different regions.

It looks like the HA125 is NOT equivalent to the CM15A, but rather to the CM11/CM12.

You might be able to use the AHP US version 3.315, which added support for the CM11A.
Otherwise, you might try the European version of AHP.

It is my understanding that the "USB cable" is simply a usb-to-serial converter, as the unit is still connecting using a serial port.
Since ActiveHome had some problems using the serial port properly in XP, I don't think that USB cable is getting around that issue.

The HA125 users manual also shows the USB dongle as a USB to Serial converter with the 4P4C connector on the serial side. To mate with the controller. The XP compatibility setting worked for some and not for others.

Would be nice if the European AHP had the CM11/CM12 module support added. Like the version we use has.
