PS561 or SC1200
« on: July 24, 2011, 12:47:36 AM »

I know the PS561 has been around forever. Is the SC1200 any better, if so why? How about reliability?

Suggest you search this forum for "SC1200", "SC1200 problems", and make your own conclusions.

There have been a lot of problems with SC1200 posted on the forum, but my own assessment is the majority of posting do not necessarily indicate a reliability problem so much as installation problems. DS12A Window sensors are critical with magnet placement, which is more difficult since the magnetic switch is inside the DS12 case. Also it seems the SC1200 has range complaint problems which is the norm for X10.  These seem to be the bulk of the complaints.

The SC1200 has some added features.
Like 30 wireless zones and two hard wired zones.
You don't have to start from scratch if a sensor gets lost or gets a new ID. Each wireless zone can be removed or a replacement added to the same zone number.

It has also been reported and I verified it. It has problems with Large Powerhorns sounding properly. Though the 2011 one may have corrected it. As X10 never posts what we fixed messages except maybe for software updates.
