Looking for a wireless thermostat
« on: September 29, 2011, 10:24:56 PM »

I'm looking for a wireless home thermostat with an API that allows you to control it with http get/post requests remotely over the internet. All the thermostats I find seem to make you log in to the manufacturer's site to control them.

The Radio Thermostat Company (radiothermostat.com) has one like this which is controlled through their site. You can turn off that feature, and since it has built in wi-fi that responds to http requests and has an open API, you could theoretically control it over the net. But the thermostat doesn't have any way to set a password so, if you set it up for control over the net, it's open to anyone.

I may get one anyway, keep it firewalled and bounce the commands through my server for security, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any others that allowed control over the internet without logging into the manufacturer's website.
