contacts in email

I have an sbcglobal email account that was impressively easy to set up.  There's no contacts app, how do you use/establish a contacts list?   (Please don't tell me i have to be arm twisted into switching to a gmail account, Google is great but i don't feel compelled to buy into their vision of how the world should work)

Having  sbcglobal email account / contacts  in your Thread title might help.

Have you perhaps done a Goggle on sbcglobal to see if there is a help file or perhaps even a user's forum.
You may find a Gmail account handy for Apps. purchases.
