Problem with Micro SDHC cards
« on: October 13, 2011, 08:53:28 PM »

The first time I inserted a Micro SD card (32GB) it simply fell all the way in the slot.  Took forever to jiggle it out far enough to remove it.  After re inserting it, the system was unable to recognize the card. Went to X-10 Tech support, the tech rep told me: Sorry, all I have is the user manual, I have no idea how to solve your problem.
X10 says the storage is expandable to 32GB. Sure...if you can get the Air Pad to recognize and launch the Micro SDHC card. I have tried an8GB, and a 16 GB...doesn't recognize anything. Finally decided to buy a mini usb micro card reader, inserted a 16 GB card and I just keep it plugged in to the USB port, so I can use it for additional storage...since the micro card slot is useless....Sorry I bought the Air Pad...I should have waited for the $50 tablet from India, which I believe has been released in the USA. :'( :'( :'(

Over the past few weeks I have read many post of problems with the Micro SD card. Yes you have to be very careful to make sure it is inserted level as there is no guide / support for it  but I have used two different 8GB and one 16GB ones in mine without any problems. I have had them in and out numerous times as I use my computer to put movies on them since the transfer speed is much faster.

Hi ronbastone, I'm curious if you have your card formatted as FAT32?  You probably do, but just thought I'd toss it out there to try to help.  Like everydayflyer, I've put a 16 GB card in and out several times and it has always been able to read it.

I guess another question is, are you certain it's seated all the way in (you should feel spring resistance and it should "click"; like the button on a retractable pen).  If you don't feel that spring and click, it probably isn't seated right (or the entire mechinism is broken somehow).  I bring this up because, if yours is physically broken, you might not even know what a working one is supposed to feel like. A USB card reader I have does not have a spring like this (you simply slide the card in as far as it will go).  The AirPad is not like that.

Aside from the jiggling suggestion to get a stuck card out, anyone have any other suggestion.  This is the first time we put a card into ours and it disappeared and seems to be stuck and is not being recognized.

The forum on Slatedroid.com on this tablet is full of complaints of people getting their SD cards stuck in the tablet - you have to be extremely careful you can feel the loading spring before pushing the card in, otherwise it slips into the case, and gets stuck.  there are some helpful hints on there about how to get it back out.

I'm having a problem with a 32 gig SD card working in my 7p. The card works in my computer in the adapter card but it doesn't show up when I insert it in the 7p. I then bought an 8 gig card and it works fine. I want to know if anyone else having any luck getting a 32 gig SD card to work in a 7p?
