Problem with PS561?
« on: October 17, 2011, 11:53:15 AM »

I have had this security system for many years. In addition to the PS561 security consol, I have 6 door/window sensors and 4 indoor motion detectors. Recently the consol has begun chiming 5 times for no apparent reason, no LEDs are lit on the console. Also when I try to set the alarm I get the rapid chiming normally indicative of an open window or door, but none are open and neaither are any of the LEDs lit on the console. I tried resetting the system several times to no avail. Any clues as to why this is hapopening?

Perhaps the batteries are low in one of the sensors?

Here are a few links to information.

If the problem Zone is 9-16 you have to hold the BYPASS Button for the Zones LED to light and indicate the problem.

The problem started just after I replaced batteries in all of the sensors and detectors.

Thanks for your help. I found the cause of my inability to set an alarm - a magnet on window sensor slipped down. Hopefully , fixing this will also fix the 5 chime problem.
