VA12A video converter stopped working
« on: December 19, 2011, 11:14:12 PM »

Been using a VA12A with 4 cameras to capture/email images for a year or so on Windows 7 64bit, but it unexpected stopped working yesterday.
I've tried uninstalling, reloading, etc - windows tells me that there is a code 43 error and that the device is reporting a malfunction.

I even tried restoring my computer to a previously point despite the fact I didn't knowingly change anything, and that did not help.

Is it likely the video converter that is shot?

Thanks

That is a good tip - I've seen it once or twice resolved by doing the exact same thing.  But no luck with that this time.

I tried on a fresh computer and it wont work there either, thinking the converter has quit working...

If you tested on another PC with the va12 drivers loaded it has most likely died :'(

VA-12's are notoriously sensitive (probably to voltage spikes of even a small magnitude)... Unplugging one with the machine running has killed one of mine, and from what I hear other folks as well. My advice is when you replace it, only plug or unplug it with the computer cold stone dead off.
