100% Wierd happening
« on: April 15, 2012, 08:53:34 AM »

Yesterday (Saturday) we got a new Computer Desk. (the old desk was 25 years old and was worn out.)  When everything was done, Active Home Pro stopped working.  It's version 3.310 and AHP will not turn lights on or off, but the lights on housecode A and F work from their stick-a-switches.   The History viewer shows proper history but my keystroke macro does not work.    Everything worked when the computer was turned off, now AHP controls nothing.   It shows module changes but the lights don't come on and off.  No electric changes have been made, either.   What's going on.

In the move with things being unplugged and replugged back in the CM15A may have received a power spike.
Try clearing the memory and purge the macros then reload the info to the CM15.
You may need to also do the Battery ritual. ::) :'

Did all that.  No change.   AHP still will not control modules but the History Viewer shows all actions even when the module doesn't repond

Two theories:
1) you didn't plug stuff back into the same USB ports, so the drivers need to be re-installed.
2) The new desk is causing interference with your system (not joking here - let me explain):
You may have moved surge protectors, etc. Does the new desk have a lamp, or some other power stuff built in? (I've seen built-in power centers, etc).
If there is something different in the signal path from the CM15A to your devices, then the signals can't get out to the devices properly.
It is recommended that the CM15a should be plugged directly into the wall, and not through a surge protector. Also, other surge protectors on the same circuit can degrade the signal as well.

The CM15A is plugged into a outlet on a different breaker than anything else.    No changes to any program in the PC including AHP.    All work as they always have.  All drive letters are the same.    No changes to anything else.

Turns out the Filter (which has 15 years of service) has failed, so I got 2 new ones on Amazon.  I can turn on several lights manually with 2 "Stick-A-Switch" units or several wall switches.

Did you try uninstalling AHP and then replacing your .AHX file?  :'

Didn't have to.  I shut the PC down,  unplugged it from the primary power switch and plugged it directly into the filter and plugged the power switch into the other side of the dual outlet and then restarted the PC.   Every module is now working properly from AHP.  I'm going to keep the 2 filters I just ordered from Amazon.   Also the filter wasn't bad as I thought.

That is strange. My PC did the same thing. I tried everything. Nothing worked. I ended up doing a system restore from 2 days before, went to bed.
This morning, everything was fine. ???

Did you happen to move it?    What version of AHP are you running?

Another Wierd happening
« Reply #14 on: October 06, 2012, 04:50:13 PM »

Last week I had to reboot after a Microsoft update for Windows 7.  After rebooting I checked AHP and the registration for it had vanished.  Fortunately I had the registration  backed up, so it was easy to get AHP fixed.  Anybody else ever had that happened after a Windows update?
