Wireless Laptop connected to AHP on Network
« on: April 27, 2012, 01:10:32 AM »

I have Active-home Pro running on my Home Network server that uses Windows xp and I want to be able to use my Wireless Networked Laptop(windows 7) with Active-home pro too. I have placed an Icon shortcut on my laptop desktop from the servers hard-drive/program folder but when I click on ether exe file, Active-home Starts but then I get an error "Active Home Professional has stopped working" windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found" then it closes. I downloaded the Active home Pro for windows 7 on my laptop thinking it would add the necessary drivers but I still get the same error when I open the shortcut icon on the laptop desktop. If I open the Version of AHP on the laptop it say cant find the interface, but I cant figure out how to make the two connect, I'm thinking about up dating the AHP on the server to the new version that supports windows 7 and see if that will work. Does any one have any ideas?  -:)

AHP isn't made to talk to another instance of its self.
You need to look at a thirdparty program to do that.

The most reliable way to do it would be to use a remote-control solution (there are free ones out there - I happen to use LogMeIn, TightVNC, AND Terminal Services/Remote Desktop on my network), and directly control the Pc with AHP on it.
In addition, there are a number of third-party solutions that will allow you to create a client/server setup to control your X10 system, outside of AHP (although they use the AHP SDK).
