need help with wiring 4 switch setup
« on: May 04, 2012, 04:24:55 PM »

In my stairway I have a lighting setup that has 4 switches running the light one at the top and one at the bottom of each stair case.  I am using the Insteon x10 compatible switches and according to the directions I only need to hook up one switch to the load and the rest just the hot and the neutral becuase these switches report local status changes.  can anyone give me tips on wiring in these switches.  The setup currently has 2 three way switches and 2 four way switches

Thanks Ken

This is for the Big Brother Insteon SwitchLinc Relay. If you have a dimmer version. Wiring still the same you just get dimming.
The X10 ones where relabeled Icons.

Basically you reuse the one or more of the travelers to get a line and neutral to all the switch positions so they all get power. Cap off the Red load wire on the ones controlling the switch with the Load.
