Found several threads relating how to set up SMTP mail service setup. Followed these threads to the letter trying to use my Gmail account.
Hit the TEST button and got the message: FAILED Incorrect User or Password.

Now this is the Gmail account I've used for a long time, so please don't ask me if I have the correct username &/or PW because I do  B:(

I am wondering; I have Gmail's 2-step verification turned on for extra security. Could this 2-step process be interfering with this process? If so, is there a way around it without turning that process off?

Thanks

I set up an alternate gmail account that does NOT have the 2-step verification process embedded in it...and the motion alarm sent me a series of pictures with the "intruder" (my cat) in the frame. Nifty!

So if you are using Gmail and you have the 2-step verification process installed, you must either disable that feature or use an email account without it or something.

Hope this help.

I got it to work one time with gmail and have not changed the settings. Which settings in gmail need to be set?

The following MAY help you.  I have a similar software package for a NON-X10 camera that might work.  Here are my settings:

Sender: (your gmail address)
Receiver 1: (the email address that you want the message to arrive at)

SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 587
TRANSPORT LAYER SECURITY PROTOCOL: STARTTLS

Need Authentication:  (This is checked)
SMTP User: (Your gmail address - same as sender above)
SMTP Password:  (Whatever that is)
--------------------------------------------------------------Then "Test" and "Submit"

Ok! Its working! The only thing I changed was the location to the router. I think maybe that the camera was so far away that there was a timeout. I haven't had time to put it back and see if the problem happens again. Also, I used SMTP Port:465
Thanks!!
