selecting the best hardware to use with onalert/ahp
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:47:05 PM »

on further inspection (sucks to be a newbie), i have seen that the onalert module allows some integration with x10 security systems.  since i've already bought some x10 security sensors that don't work with ahp directly, what security system do i need to buy if i want to be able to use security sensors  (door & window, etc).?  i'd like to be able to arm and disarm these remotely. which is the best x10 security system to buy for this?

http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/On_Alert

OnAlert allows you to add Security Devices to AHP.
I have added some DS12A and DS10A Door Window sensors to my AHP setup for tests. I have not tested how much that can be done with them after adding them to AHP
The Security Sensors are not able to be turned On and Off. They always send information when activated and check in with a message every hour. That way if the console doesn't see a check in in four hours it flags a zone error on the console.

I have never tried my AHP with an X10 security console but I believe it can also simulate a SH624 Table Top Remote. So it maybe able to arm the console but someone may have to verify that.

At present there is only one X10 Security Console being sold. The SecuriLINK.

It allows you to add security devices into AHP.

Door Window Sensors: DS10A, DS12A
Motion Sensors: MS10A, MS18A
Keyfob: KR10A, KR32A.
Security Remote SH624.

Well there has always been confusion on this part number.
The SC1200 is on the sales page but the console is a model SC12A.
The console I bought under the SC1200 number is a SC12A console. Even though the users manual plainly calls it a SC1200.
My consoles label also says SC12A.
They are the samething.  ;D

In AHP with On Alert the consoles label is a SC12A.
Confusing. YES!

that makes me happy to have bought one today :).  just starting to put together my ahp computer system today.  i figure i'm going with lower end, low power components with an ssd drive.  i'm going to try to get by with a fan on the cpu and a power supply fan.   i am still a bit undecided bewteen the ssd drive or a wd 500gb drive that's reasonably quick. i have both.
