CM17a with TM751 andWS4777
« on: March 13, 2014, 11:44:45 PM »

All the other switches in the house work fine. I have 2 WS467 dimmer switches in the house that have no problems. However the WS4777 won't turn on anymore. I did at one time now it won't.

What it will do is turn off any time any command on its housecode is used.
Example
1. The WS4777 is on : code is A3
2. TM751 is off : Code is A1
3 I send command to turn ON A1
4. A1 turns on, but A3 turns off.

I am assuming this is probably interference, but I haven't found the culprit yet and I just want to know if this sound more like an issue with the switch itself.

The WS4777 is part of a three way switch kit. Are you using the companion switch with it or is the Red traveler capped off and not used?
Standard incandescent bulb load on the WS4777?
Any motion sensors in the setup? If so what X10 address?
Does the TM751 have a controlled load on it?
You can't turn the WS4777 On at all with the CM17A or it turns Off with any other A addressed command?

Although a long shot, you could try resetting one of the WS467s to A3 code, to see if it starts mimicing the WS477 actions. I would try the WS467 closest to the WS477.  Also you might try changing the SW477 house code to something else and sending on ON command on the new housecode to see if the WS477 repeats the off action. Pretty wierd symptom that really does not sound like a noise problem although there has been a few instances of noise morphing one command into another. Changing housecode should eliminate a morphing problem.

WAG: bad WS477.

I have companion switch in place.

I have tried changing house codes and device codes multiple times.

it turns off any house code it is also assigned to.

I went kind of radical and just moved all the breakers that would have an X10 switch to one side of breaker box and all the breakers that had a lot of electronics and such to the other. Now magically all the switches work. Thanks for your ideas and help.

Glad to read you got it working.

Almost all breaker boxes alternate the lines on each side vertically. So that adjacent full space breakers can be a tandem for 220 volt feeds.
Not all on the Left are one line and the right side the other line.
You must have been lucky and all the breakers you chose where on the same line input.
