DS10A as a Macro Trigger
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:50:29 PM »

Here's my setup
Marmitek AHP, CM15A, Wall and switch modules, HR12A

Here's my problem
I want to trigger a Den light controlled by an X10 Wall Switch (L6).  I'm testing a DS12A door switch which is listed in AHP in the Den.  It's activity registers in the F2 report.  The DS12A is not listed in the Macro editing function.  How can I use this door sensor to trigger a macro.
This switch can be activated by AHP, an EagleEye  and a HR12A.  The EagleEye works but it does not activate fast enough to be useful.

Thanks for any advise !!!

It's been a while, but I think you need the security plug-in.
I used to use the DS units to turn on the desk lamp when I opened my keyboard drawer so I know it's possible.
Then again, it could be an issue with Marmitek AHP - I only used the X10 AHP and gave up with it soon after the original X10 went missing.

Thanks for your response.  Marmitek has the OnAlert module included so the security modules are available in AHP.
The DS10 may not be the answer but the functionality it offers is what I like.

The DS12A is similar to the DS10A. With an added separate second zone in it. You can register both the magnetic switch zone and the external zone connected to the two pin terminal strip inside near the bottom.

I will try and see if my AHP with OnAlert can add a DS12A to a Macro.

I have read on this forum that there is a bug in AHP whereby Macro's triggered by security modules run twice. I'm curious to know if you see that.

I never experienced that, but for turning a light on/off it wouldn't really matter.

I have been using DS10A as macro triger for almost 3 years. You do need security plugin. Will be glad to give the setup if you still need it.

I am using the Marmitek version and have the OnAlert module.  I have not installed the SC1200 at this time.  I would appreciate the setup info you offered.

I found an antenna mod for the EagleEye that solved the signal problem so that setup is working.  The DS10 would be a better solution.

You need to add the sensor to AHP
Once it is installed correctly you need to switch the macro so it uses a security sensor as the trigger
If the sensor isn't added to AHP it will not display as a trigger option.

Tuicemen,
Thanks for the response.  I was able to install the DS10 as you displayed.  Problem is that it's signal is not reaching my antenna modded cm15.
A few questions.......
Will a tm751 pick up the signal of the ds10?
Is there a wire mod for the ds10 like the EagleEye?

A tm751 will not work with the security devices.
However a newer version of the RF repeater will handle the security signals and repeat them so the Cm15 can see them.
I say newer version because it has better range then the older discontinued versions.

I use a DS10 to trigger some lights. The DS10 I use was too far for the CM15 to see the signal so I simply ran some longer wires for the magnets to get the DS10 closer to the CM15. You should be able to do the same using the magnets on the DS12.

You can also try placing a passive reflector antenna behind the DS12 to help extend the signal reach. Just search these forums for a passive reflector antenna. I've done it for another DS10 having problems reaching my security console. I have the old system, I forget he model. DS7000 I think.

The DS12A has its magnetic switch on the PCB and the magnet is placed on the side where the switch is.
Though it has a separate second Zone Input for a magnetic switch. It terminal block is on the bottom edge. The internal magnetic switch and the external one. Are separate zone inputs. You can register either one or both.

This simple trick will give a big increase in signal strength.

Thanks - I've already installed an extendable antenna wired to the circuit board on my CM15A and that helped.  The DS10A's sensor signal is occasionally received (displayed in the F2 report) but it does not trigger the Light On macro.  Also the DS10A icon displays "Install" even after I have completed the install process.
