Viewing camera(s) WITHOUT receiver
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:08:16 AM »

I have few wireless X10 cameras and the receiver is broken. Is there a way to view the camera signal without a receiver? I'm thinking such as on an iPad or android device

No you will need an X10 wireless video receiver. I have not seen any other brand receiver that would use the same four channel frequencies used by X10.

The XC18A was part of the VK69A kit so someone may have added information with that kits devices.

If you had more than one camera and where switching them to the same receiver. You will also have to send an X10 power line to switch their addressable power supplies.

Thank you. I have the receiver but it's broken (the plastic pivot of the antenna). I can glue it back but it's like performing micro-surgery.
I also have the old LOLA music/video sender/receiver system (with remote). Would the receiver part of Lola work with the XC18A?

I found three different Lola systems.
Do you happen to have the X10 part number on the receiver you have questions about?

It's silver color, and of course the Lola set includes several parts:

Sender - VT42A
Receiver - VR38A <- This is the one I'm trying to get to work with the XC18A Camera
Remote - UR89A

It may work. The VT42A sender uses the 2.4GHz band as shown in the FCC Database. Receivers are not normally in the database. So I could only find schematics of the sender.

You can try all four of the channels available on the camera and match to the receivers channel setting.

How are you looking at the video. Maybe on a computer with a VA11A, VA12A? Feed from the receivers video output.

Thank you Brian. I was able to get it to work, but the picture/sound is very noisy. The way I'm watching the signal is, I have the receiver connected via Red+White+Yellow (audio+composite) to the back of a Samsung flat screen TV. I recall many years ago, when I used the original camera receiver, the picture was better, not HDTV grade, but definitely 'cleaner'.

You may want to look at some of the information in the X10 wiki.
Some other devices share the same 2.4GHz band and can cause interference.
