contact cleaner suggestions

any thoughts on deoxit vs. crc qd or other contact cleaners? thanks.

I don't have a comparison. As I have only used the deoxit red solution to clean contacts and then a light coat of the blue contact preservative.

Deoxit red solution at $59 a bottle? I think you should slink over to the zwave forum with all the rich guys. X10 is for cheapos like me. X10 FOR THE PEOPLE!  ;D

I suspect Brian is as much of a cheapskate as the rest of us. Plus, he's probably better than you at sourcing things like this. ::)

Many swear by CAIG DeoxIT.  I personally use the imitation De-Ox-Id from GC Electronics because my local electronics supply store carries it and have always had great results with vintage audio equipment and TVs.  I think it costs a little less than DeoxIT also.  Many also use WD-40 but it leaves a residue which may attract dust and recontaminate the contacts, so I wouldn't recommend that.  I used to use the contact cleaner from RadioShack but have had more problems with recontamination than with De-Ox-Id.
