UR74A (Remote Controller)
« on: January 09, 2017, 12:06:54 PM »

My UR74A quit working.  I put fresh batteries in it thinking that was the problem. No go.  It was working and then all of a sudden, it wasn't.  :(   Is this common?  Can I do  something to correct it?  Even being less than 3ft from the wall unit and pointing it right at it, does not work.  Thanks for any and all responses.

Bummer. I've still got my Instinct (X10) remote table-side to my easychair. It serves as back-up TV remote to my upstairs Logitech-Harmony  remote.... and X10 controller. I use the X10 part almost every night to run the "good night macro".

I'd guess it's been functioning fine for about 8 years.

I don't know how long X10 IR remotes last..... but I've never had one fail.

Are you sure your "wall unit" (maybe a TM751 Wireless Transceiver Module) is working? Maybe a new Christmas item is plugged in (and charging) and causing the problem (as in powerline interference). Try the TM751 sharing a power strip with a lamp or appliance module.... and see if it all works that way.

You may want to check the X10 House Code you are using is set in the UR74A. If you are not using the default A.
Some of the remotes reverted to A after a battery change and had to be reset if a different House Code is being used.

Are you using the X10 RF feature to a transceiver? I believe it could be set to X10 IR or RF. So you may also want to make sure it is doing your choices of RF or IR.

Just in case you've mis-placed your manual:  http://www.authinx.com/manuals/X10/UR74A.pdf
