Camera help requested
« on: January 01, 2018, 07:19:53 AM »

-:)Wondering if anyone is using these forum posts.  I fell three years ago breaking my neck.  Lost all movement below neck.  I can type using one finger on each hand now and able to walk appx 100' with cane before pain get too severe and requires sitting down to rest.  My old XX40A and one of 2 VK79A cams have stopped working.  My AHPro software is still working on My old Dell laptop running Win XP.  It has run 24/7 for over 4yrs.  I have good control of over 10 modules using both remotes, external switches and laptop.  I am no longer able (yet) to service my cameras and wondering if anyone knows someone that I might send my XX40A to for repairs if and when I get some to take it down for me.  I still have two unopened VK79A cams but would really like to get the old 40 working again because it was better in spite of being much slower.  I have new ip analog and digital 16 channel systems but would like to keep my old X10 stuff working because most modules are still working and I have several replacements in unopened boxes.  Anyone out there?

You don't state your location. This makes it hard to recommend some place to send your camera for repairs.
A local shop may be worth trying but these cameras now are so cheep it may not be worth fixing and a replacement may be the better option.
You also don't say what is the issue with your XX40A It may just require a firmware upgrade (provided one can be located)

I can't locate any vk79A camera info is this an X10 Airsight camera?

Tuice's reply pretty much answered your tech questions.

I just wanted to add.... you're NOT alone. Sorry to read about your injury... glad to read you're healing. There are many things happening in home automation.... and even some new cool things happening with X10. A decade ago... we were playing with voice controlled home automation. Now with Amazon's entry into voice control home automation their Echo devices.... a LOT is happening.

Keep coming back... and reading the posts. I think home automation has more to offer everyone now-a-days. And those with limitations may be best suited to exploit the new technologies.
