My laptop after win 10 update wont allow me to start AHP I have tried lifejacket to no avail Tried uninstalling and re installing in C:\ drive  but at the end of the install it hangs. also attempted start as admin, Also tried on a different win 10 pc but again at the end of the installation a window appears saying installation in progress but never completes. Can anyone help[ me resolve the problem? it would be greatly appreciated

Are you getting any error messages or the install just stops?
Which installer are you using the one on my site or the x10 site or another one?
A uninstall doesn't remove the files in C:\ProgramData\Active Home Professional or C:\ProgramData\X10 Settings
the x10active.xml will screw up AHP if it gets corrupt so it must be removed.
Windows updates have been known to mess with AHP. I use to have this issue all the time with XP & 7 but yet to have it with Win 10.

The AHP setup just stops no error. Shows window "finishing installation" that just freezes there.  Downloaded to C:\ .   The hardware seems to install but not the AHP setup.  I have to use task mgr to close that window

Try installing to the default folder the setup may be looking for a path that isn't there for the drivers

this time installed to C program files x86 same results.     Before installation I uninstalled and removed  all traces of AHp  and X10 hardware

I can't find C:\ProgramData\Active home professional or x10settings any where on my c or d drives. using windows search tool or browsing the drives.    I am using the full unregistered installer AHP 3.318 listed on this site tuiceman apr 28 2014. Install seems to go smoothly green progress bar reaches the end but this screen remains in background then after hardware installation completes I think successfully  the initial progress bar set up screen remains frozen stating completing installation. I have to use task mgr end task to close out that screen.

I do have an app showing in settings apps and features x10 hardware TM. when I try to uninstall it I get message. "This app cant run on your PC. to find a ver for your pc check with software publisher".

Also I checked task mgr services running and there is x10nets stopped showing.

Hopefully I have provided enough info to provide a solid clue as to what is the problem.  Tuiceman I really appreciate your help with this issue.

You need to enable your pc to show hidden files and folders as well as system files other wise you will not see folders or files I mentioned

Thank you Tuiceman I have opened program data folder and neither active home professional or x10 settings are in that folder.
I also did a widows search for the x10active.xml and the file is not there.

Again I do appreciated you taking the time to help with this issue

I just did a complete uninstall, also removed  x10 hardware files in C:\\ program x86. I downloaded ahp.exe again allowed it to install to default  folder c:\\program x86.   enabled hidden files and folders.  when I check C:\\ProgramData there are no instances of Active Home Proffessional or x10 settings being installed in that folder as you mentioned theer should be. Could this be the clue needed to solve the issue.     Thanks in advance.    edjal

These folders are created when AHP first starts (runs) if they don't exist they are not created with a install thats why a uninstall doesn't remove them.

I've  never had much luck with system restores but you might try reverting back to before the Windows update as you say AHP worked prior to it.

Thanks again for your response mr tuiuceman.   My laptop is the computer which I ran AHP on for a couple of years successfully. I did try a restore on the laptop before I posted but the only restore date was the date of the win update I used that date to no avail.  So I have been trying ever since to install AHP on my win 10 64bit desktop which never had AHP on it and I get the same result. So frustrating

AHP is installed in C program files x86 on my desktop. I have also tried starting as admin, Compatibility modes win 7, and xp ver3. used the troubleshooter and  windows reports "Trouble shooting completed"    answer "incompatible program"   "Not Fixed"

Ok try them European AHP 3.316 installer.
But before you do make a backup of them AHP FOLDER YOU now have.
Then if it installs without a issue you can convert to them North American version very simply. Instructions are on my form.you can get them European version from my web page
