Stand Alone Controller
« on: January 25, 2018, 09:55:13 AM »

I'd like to see something like an HR12A PalmPad Remote Controller.  My wife does not use a smart phone and mine is occasionally in another room.  I have HR12A's in most rooms so I can currently end commands to my CM15A.  With a compatible controller, I can see no longer using my CM15A.

Adding an RF receiver to the WM100 would allow folks to continue using their PalmPads.

If a stand alone controller would be instantaneous and WIFI connected it would need to be drawing power constantly to maintain a connection. That reduces the practicality of a non plug in unit as the batteries would be constantly draining. We use palm pads as they are portable, require no standby power, and are always ready to send a command instantly. A palm pad that did not repeat dim commands would be nice so you could actually get the brightness level you wanted. If a remote were to be WIFI then the cost would probably be at least $50.00 per remote.

I'm not sure what you mean here. PalmPads send 5-6 copies of the RF code but current transceivers only send 1 PLC Dim/Bright.

This would be the least expensive route I would think. ::) :'

Way back when I designed the BX24-AHT I expanded the X10 RF protocol to include extended commands (plus other codes allowing for data from remote weather stations, etc.). I modified a Pronto to send 310MHz RF and created CCF files for the standard and extended codes. They could also be used with RF-enabled Phillips OmniRemotes. Long range, Authinx should consider doing something similar with the WM100 - perhaps introducing their own programmable IR/RF remotes.
