I'd like to add photos of the devices controlled by the app. Even further, the photos could replace the default On/Off button and show the device in either it's on or off state.

I voted MAYBE on this one. Seems like photos would eat up bunches of memory. Icons may b the way to go.
Remote control is cool,
but automation rules!

Icons would be the way to go.
However I prefer to have other options utilizing the memory of the WM100.

The memory used.... wouldn't be on the WM100... it would be in the phone app (or on your phone/controlling device).
Home Automation is an always changing technology

I thought about that, but then each phone could be differently configured that.
Still many use this on older obsolete devices with little memory.

Whereas images (pictures) are generally MB in size.... icons are usually just KB. Not much memory.

Yes, that's how I envision this...the photos reside on the Android or iPhone device.

True, so the OPTION to use photos/icons would be available but not required.

The app would crop and then reduce the photo to fit into the small button area. There is no way a tiny icon would be MB in size.
