BWSsystems does a good job of keeping on top off issues caused from Amazon Alexa updates
It is true Amazon makes no money from a software bridge but I bet they make little to none from hardware bridges as well.
Many hardware hub manufacters have gone under or been taken over and I expect to see more go. Users of these hubs now in some cases are stuck with a door stop.
Updates to the Alexa app has caused issues not only issues with software hubs but hardware ones and skills. If the makers of these skills or hardware hubs are no longer arround they may never work again
