I just checked my off grid Airsight which was set using Hotmail, it still reports a success  when pressing test.  If your trying with hotmail one of your settings may be off. Post a screen shot with your email address edited out and I can compare settings.

Here is the email setup screen.

I've tried several mail servers; this one is outlook.com which replaced hotmail?

I tried port 465 as well with the same failure.

Can you see anything that might cause the test to fail?

brobin

Have you tested port 25 or 2525 with SSL turned off?

Tuicemen

I believe your smtp is wrong every thing else looks good.
Try smtp.live.com instead of smtp.outlook.com

Tuicemen,

You got it!

I changed the smtp to live from outlook and "It Lives!"

Thanks guys...

This is very frustrating!

After much trial and error following the advice given here, I finally got the right parameters and passed the internal email configuration test.

The Airsight app then sent the first four or five emails as expected. Then, it stopped and now the test fails.

Any ideas what to look at to determine why the emails all of a sudden fail?

You might want to check your junk or spam folder if you get to many emails some times they'll get flagged as spam and you'll need to mark as not spam. Creation of a rule to move those emails to a special folder may help. You can also try sending to a different address.

I may have led you astray about too many emails being the problem.

Actually, after stumbling upon the configuration in the network settings menu that resulted in a successful test and having emails successfully sent upon motion detection, the camera simply stopped sending emails.

When I noticed the emails had stopped, I performed the internal camera test again and it failed! Nothing had changed in the camera settings.

So, what can you think of that might have changed either on the desktop PC or the Outlook server that caused a working camera email delivery system to fail the internal test?

Tuicemen

If your setting haven't  changed the issue is with outlook. And to many emails in a short period is most likely the culprit. Try changing the recipient email address and do a test.

I'm going to show my ignorance here but could any of the other configuration variables be causing this new failure?

While I am pretty sure none of these variables were changed, still, could UPNP or DDNS or FTP settings be the culprit?

brobin

Just a thought, but have you tried unplugging the camera and plugging it back in? Sometimes rebooting a device after making changes helps by clearing out any old settings in memory.  No idea if this will make a difference but easy enough to try.

TJMay

I had the same thought and unplugged the camera, my router, my modem and rebooted the PC, all to no avail.

Perhaps someone can suggest another IP camera viewing app that can run on a PC, connect to the Airsight camera and successfully send an email upon motion detection?

brobin

Try IP Camera Viewer for Android by Robert Chou.  It supports Airsight cameras and hundreds of others.  I've been using the app for many years and love it.  It's free for 4 cameras and just $4 one time for premium so try it out to at least see if it works. https://hit-mob.com/

It is NOT a windows program. The WIN program by the same name is not the same software and I don't know anything about it but who knows, maybe it'll work too.

You may wish to try ispy if you wish to run a computer it is free open source and supports many cameras. It has been many years since I used it but it is still alive and now is available for a raspberry pi.
