Why does Android app require location, camera, contacts, phone and files/media?

I noticed just today that the blue light on my WM100 is blinking a lot during times when there are no timers scheduled. Any idea why?

Some permissions are inter linked you can permit one without the other. Camera and location permissions are obvious as they are needed to setup the WM100.
The blue light blinking doesn't  reflect macro runs but all PLC activity.

A X10 signal that may or may not be configured in the WM100 or noise on the powerline.
