X10 and Home Assistant

I am a newbie to this whole Home Assistant arena. I purchased a new Raspberry Pi 4B and installed the Home Assistant operating system. I was able to incorporate my smart plugs but when I began to set up all my existing X10 devices I ran into many configuration issues. Apparently X10 needs a mochad service running to communicate to the CM15A. I have learned that I cannot install programs like mochad in the HA OS. Do I need to start from scratch and install raspbian o/s on the Raspberry Pi then set up Docker to run containers for Home Assistant and some version of Linux to run mochad? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.
