New router, no connect
« on: October 20, 2024, 11:38:40 PM »

Replaced router with a new TP-Link. Using a new WM100. 2.4 and 5g bands have different names. iPad and Galaxy S24 are on the 2.4 band. Scan the QR code on the WM100 and try to connect. The process finds the SSID of the 2.4 band. The name is filled in in the app. I put in the password. And it fails to connect. The WM100 does not show up in the router devices. The iPad and S24 do. Router is set to use WMA2.

On the cell and iPad I have deleted the app, powered down and up and reinstalled the app.

What am I missing?

Well, gave up. Went back to original router and all is fine. New device blocking was not on in the new router. No idea what is wrong.

When I switched out my last routers I set it up the same as the old.(same name, password and ip) this saved having to reconfigure all my wifi devices.

Well, if the current Netgear dies and I go to my new tp-link I will try that. But it will get confusing.  :)

What you could do prior to needing is power up the new router (while still using the old one) and change every thing  but the name in the new router. That way when if you need it you only need to change the name and don't have to guess at settings. >!
