Hey gang, been a while
« on: December 21, 2024, 07:30:28 PM »

Last post was in 2018?  Really?

Oh well.

System has been working fine.  A few bugs here and there, but most original X-10 modules are still going.

But, question time.  After holding off for so long, I guess it's time for a new PC and slogging though figuring out Win 11

So, among all the other problems I'll need to work out, one is what to do with Active Home?  Will it even work on 11?  If so, what about the whole deal with getting it registered with the  Lifejacket hack?

Oh yeah, had a weird problem with one wall switch module y'all might find funny.

Active Home or Active Home Pro?
You mentioned  Lifejacket hack.
So you are using Active Home Pro?

I just loaded AHP pro on my new Win 11 laptop and it works just fine without being registered. Just get the reg page at startup. Did the download from x10.com.

Kept the old Win 10 machine for now as a backup...

Although I don't have Windows 11 to test, the lifejacket method to register and unlock some of the plugins should still work.
I suspect you'll need to run it as an administrator >!

I'd really rather not do the Lifejacket hack thing of swapping serial numbers on a brand new machine.

You can use your own registration using your own file from your old PC
You don't  even need to use lifejacket You can do the tasks yourself manualy.
But you should understand the AHP installer from x10 is a hack as well as the original servers which held all AHP data was lost.

^^^  I'm hoping I can just copy the entire folder, config and all.

I may still have the CD, but new PCs don't have optical drives.

You can just copy the 10 folders over but that's will just give you the unregistered version. The registration is tied to the computer Id so unless you change that prior to copying the files your registered copy will become unregistered. >!

If your against using hacks to gain AHP on your new PC. Then the only way to get it on your new PC is by copying it over from your old one. I'm not even sure if the install CD  would work as I believe it made AHP connect to the internet and those  X10 servers no longer exist. I believe only the forum and some old code was retreived from the old X10WTI servers.
The AHP installer on the X10 sales site is one I created using a patchwork of my AHP and some old x10 installer code.

Yes, but then you say the files won't be registered.

That's my conundrum.  I want to copy them (and not do the Lifejacket hack), but I want them to work also.

I don't care so much about any of the plug ins since none of them work other than Smart Macro which I don't use.

I just want AHPro to work and operate my devices as scheduled.

The lifejacket program replaces one file and changes the computer id.  The id is what is needed for the registration. There are several programs available that allow you to do this. I believe there is even one offered by Microsoft. If the nag to register doesn't bother you then there is no need to change it.

Not working.

Copied/pasted the entire folder.

Click on the exe and it wants to unzip

I let it do that and click on the exe in the new folder created by unzipping.

Nothing happens.

Must be missing a step.  Or adding one.

You need more then just the AHP folder. If you read the lifejacket thread I believe it points you to files and folders required.  >!
