X10 Pro: When is the Next Release for AHP?
« on: April 08, 2005, 03:42:41 PM »

X10 Pro:   I was led to believe that you had
indicated via a forum correspondence a
release due yesterday Thurs 4/7/05 but I
haven’t seen any announcements.  Is there a
scheduled date and for AHP, SM plug in,
iWitness plug in?

I was aiming for a release yesterday, but we
weren't quite ready. I don't like to do
releases on Fridays, so the new goal is
Monday -- that's not set in stone, though.
The update will include changes for AHP,
Smart Macros, and iWitness.

David K:  It is a hardare problem.  It will
never be fixed in software!

A software TOD clock requiring a hardware
TOD clock.  Yes, no, maybe?

It doesn’t have a hardware TOD clock.  The
CPU counts the pulses generated by the 60Hz
power keep track of the time.
Unfortunately the circuit that converts the
60Hz power to pulses doesn’t have any noise
filtering and can glitch with the right
type of noise causing the clock to count
twice in one cycle.  This could be fixed in
firmware (not software) by de-bouncing the
pulse, but since there are other clock-
related problems, it wouldn’t be the
optimal solution.  Regardless of what
solution is chosen, a recall would be
required, since the firmware cannot be
upgraded remotely.

Not to mention that upon a reset the TOD is
probably lost.

One:  That is what I was referring to when
I said, “there are other clock-related
problems.”

If the CM15A uses AC power to keep time how
does it keep time when not plugged in to a AC
outlet.  For example when you download you
timers etc. then unplug it and walk to
another part of the house  and plug it back
in.  Do you loose the amount of time it took
from when you unplugged it to plugging it in
or does it somehow keep time without AC power
using the batteries.

When not connected to AC power the CM15A
keeps time using the batteries for power.

It uses the CPU clock, when the 60Hz AC
signal is not available.

X10 Pro:  It’s now Weds. 4/13/05 How about
some status on AHP, SM, iWitness CM15A?
There are a lot of reliability & performance
issues outstanding?
