ATI software and AHP Activity Monitor problem
« on: June 17, 2005, 01:35:35 PM »

After a few months of scratching my head
over it, I think I finally figured out what
is causing my Activity Monitor to stop
working.
It seems that one of the components of my
ATI TV card software (the ATISched.exe
program) will intermittently cause the
Activity Monitor to stop working. I was able
to make this happen enough times yesterday
and today, to confidently say that this is
at least part of the problem.
While it sometimes takes a while for the
Activity Monitor to stop recording new
activity, killing the ATISched.exe task will
make it start working right away, every time
I tried it. For now, it is disabled in my
startup, until I hear back from X10 on this
(I have been trading e-mails with the
support rep about this). I'll try to post
any more information as I get it.
If anyone has had similar experiences,
please let me know.

Noam,

ATIsched.exe gpf's sometimes with ahp
running but I havent had your problem with
the AM.

After installing the 3.187 update, the TV
portion will not work.  Running the ATI
compability test say that i have an ATI
Radaon video display and that is not
correct...that i really need an ATI Radaon
video display for the tv to operate... go
figure<g>

I think ahp messed up my ati video drivers.
I am going to install ati mmc this weekend
to see if that fixes the problem, as i have
not heard from ahpsupport yet concerning the
problem.

Let me know if you hear anything about your
problem.

Thanks

Noam: Thanks for the information. We'll try
to duplicate it here and figure it out.

Skip -
I have an ATI TV-Wonder PCI, and the TV
isn't working properly, either. it thinks it
is, but the picture isn't coming through
correctly. the tint and color are off. This
is only through the Coax connector, not the
RCA connectors Picture is fine through the
RCA input).
As far as the Activity Monitor, I am really
baffled. With ATISched shut down all
weekend, my activity monitor still stopped
working after a little while. Rebooting
didn't help, either. This morning, my front
lights didn't turn off like they were
supposed to (I haven't had a timer NOT work
since about November). I cleared teh
interface (through the software - I didn't
unplug it, remove batteries, etc), and
reloaded. the Activity monitor started
working again (I have a dummy module set to
turn on and off at 5-minute intervals).
I sent a screen shot of my Task Manager to
the X10 rep, to see if they see anything
else that might be causing an issue.

Still no word from X10 on this. There has to
be some reason why my Activity monitor keeps
failing. Anybody else have any ideas?

It's been a week since I last heard from X10
on this. Numerous e-mails have gone
unanswered, and my Activity monitor still
refuses to record my timers and macros most
of the time (It DOES record commands I send
by clicking on the buttons in AHP, or from
hand-held or plug-in remotes). Any idea when
I might get an answer on what is happening?

X10 -
Are you out there?
I've been waiting [somewhat] patiently for a
week and ahalf now since I least heard from
you. I'm not even asking when you re going
to fix the problem. Any word on when you
might at least reply to my e-mails?

What the heck was that post ?
An AD from a user at a web hosting site ?
Looks like a prime target for a X10 ZAP ?
...and a place to AVOID like the plague !
