Moving ActiveHome
« on: December 19, 2005, 12:31:19 PM »

I'm considering moving ActiveHome Pro from
my laptop to my desktop. What do I need to
do to get it installed on the desktop?
What's the best way to make sure all my
modules, timers & macros get moved. My
desktop and laptop are networked.
If I deside to get the online software, I
think it will work better with X10 on the
desktop.
Am I correct in understanding that I can
access ActiveHome Pro on my desktop from
any networked computer in the house via the
online program?
Thanks.

Make sure you copy the .ahx files in the
Active Home Pro folder on the Laptop.

Install AHP on the Desktop (if you saved the
installer as has been posted elsewhere, or
re-download it) and copy the .ahx files to
the new AHP Folder. All your modules, timers
and macros are in the various .ahx files.

Steve you can access your AHP  from any Pc
in your network but responce time is slow.
if thats not a big deal or you want to try
it anyways follow Dan's advice and make
sure you install all your plugins before
you add your AHX file.

I have the ACTIVEHOME PRO USB hardware and
Active Pro 3.199 software. PC crashed and
installed software on a new PC. The device
is running fine but do not have the setup
in my PC anymore.
Is there a way to retrieve my setup from
the hardware device back to the PC so I
don't have to create everything from
scratch?

Sorry, John.

If the old machine crashed and the hard drive
is trash, you have to rebuild all the .ahx
files from scratch.  If the hard drive is
still good, it can be put in the new machine
as a slave to the new PC's hard drive and the
old .ahx files copied to the new AHP folder.
