Activity Monitor since v3.198
« on: December 20, 2005, 10:42:38 AM »

Curious development with Activity Monitor
since the v3.198 update.  It's possible this
was happening prior to this version, but I
didn't discover it until the v3.198 update.
I'm now on v3.199.

See if you can duplicate it....

First of all, my "Event History Length (# of
Events)" in Preferences is set to 1000, but
no matter what it's set to the results are
the same.

Here's the test...

1. Open Activity Monitor and click "File"
then "Clear Window"

2. MINIMIZE the Activity Monitor window.
(Don't close it.)

3. Pick ONE module and turn it on. (I'm using
my porch light for this test.)

4. Maximize the Activity Monitor window.  I
show 2 entries:

0 - 12/20/2005 9:21:27 am - Transmit - C8
(Front Porch)
1 - 12/20/2005 9:21:28 am - Transmit - C On
(Front Porch)

5. CLOSE the Activity Monitor window.

6. OPEN Activity Monitor again.

Now how many entries do you have?  Do you
still have just 2 lines?  Good for you.  My
Activity Monitor log is now FULL.  My first 2
entries are repeated over and over again.
1001 lines worth and all I did was turn on
one light just one time.

Is this a feature or a bug?

Curious to know if it's just me or everyone
else, too.

Regards,
Marty K.

Good catch I've been rebuilding my PC an I
thought it was something I screwed up.
Your not alone I never noticed in 3.198 but
it is that way in 3.199. :(

I suspect it's PC hardware based.

I'm running 3.99 and my Activity Monitor
shows exactly what it's supposed to by each
command to each module.

If you clear it, it also clears the Find
Computer history as well.

If you never bother to open it, it won't
cause AHP to do anything odd.

"I suspect it's PC hardware based."

Sorry Dan, that doesn't really cut it.  While
my hardware is more than likely different
from yours, the fact remains that it worked
fine prior to version 3.198.  My hardware
hasn't changed, the software has.  There's
only one conclusion I can make.

Have to agree with Dan. Running 3.99 and
monitor works fine. (Using XP Pro)

Marty K,
I have the same problem 1000 duplication of
the same command.
However if you open activity monitor on top
of a "room"  then clear the activity monitor
page and then send a "command" you will
notice that it works properly, only a single
command response as it should.  Now close the
Activity Monitor Window and send
another "command" .  Please note that
the "command" is now duplicated 1000
times ??? What gives ????

I am running XP PRO with two "Modules"
IWHITNESS and MYHOUSE.

OK Mister X10 Have your Software Team fix
the bug for us.

Thanks

I stand corrected--when I followed jfm's
procedure, I too got 1000 commands.

jfm,

You just described my test at the beginning
of this thread, except that I don't have to
send another command after closing the
Activity Monitor window.  Simply open up the
Activity Monitor window after closing it and
I see the previous command repeated 1000
times.  Definitely a bug.

That's fuuny.  I just did your test, cleared
the Activity Monitor, closed AHP.

Waited 5 minutes, reopened AHP. Activity
Monitor still cleared.

Consider yourself lucky.  You are one of the

I was searching this forum for this exact
bug.  I figured somebody would beat me to
posting, as I have only recently installed
the CM15A with the software that I
downloaded on 12/28 (V3.198).

It was working fine (Activity Monitor, that
is) until a dialog box popped up yesterday
and informed me that a new and improved
version was ready for download.  HA!

Oh, and I triggered a few modules, giving me
ten (0-9) discreet Transmit events in the
Activity Monitor.
