An observation
« on: February 08, 2006, 12:02:08 PM »

An observation.

Working in the Information Technology (IT)
world for about 35 years has given me a big
lessons learned when major software
releases are available ... wait until the
next minor release is available.  In the
case of X10 software that means remain on
3.199 and wait for 3.201.  Most of the
problems we've had with 3.199 we've found
work arounds or have put up with the
software short comings.  So why jump to
3.200 for the fix.

Anyway, just a thought for those who
haven't upgraded to 3.200.  I'm still on
3.199 and waiting.

X10 management -- give some more thought to
Beta testing before releasing new
software.  It will make your customers more
happy.  I learned this in the IT world as
well.

Agreed. We should, if we've been around PC's
for any length of time, we should avoid
software releases with "00 in the number. I
dumbly upgraded to 3.200 and immediately went
back to 3.199.

One thing X10 should do is make their
upgrades better and also make them able to
not apply all the files in an upgrade but
apply what the user's AHP needs. I don't need
patches for the Add-ons as I don't use them.
3.200 was full of stuff for the add-ons and
only a small part was for AHP proper, so it
screwed up part of the base AHP in the process.
