Last module addressed still gets triggered
« on: December 02, 2004, 10:20:14 AM »

I've mentioned this before, but I'll
mention it again.  Has anybody else noticed
this?

If I use an RF device to turn on a light
(eg. A4), then use an RF device to trigger
a macro that turns off several devices (say
A1, A2, A3) in the same housecode, the
light (A4) is also turned off.

I assume this is because the way X10 works
is it sends out addresses first (to tell
the modules to "pay attention") then sends
out the command (ie: A1, A2, A3, Off -
turns off these three modules).  In my
example A4 is still paying attention, so it
goes off as well.

I don't know how the modules know to STOP
paying attention, but it seems to me that
when I trigger a macro the first thing it
should do is tell all the modules that are
currently paying attention to stop
listening.

Ideally this should be optional, because
there may be some circumstances where you
want to be able to just address a module in
one macro and send it commands in another.

Paul - Is that RF device a motion sensor by
chance?  Otherwise I have not been able to
duplicate the problem.

If a module is addressed, any command signal
followed by a different module address in
that house code should stop the first module
from being addressed.

As an example:

- Send A4 On with remote: A4 is addressed

- Send A Dim with remote: A4 is addressed

- Send A1 On with remore: A4 not addressed

The macro case you describe should work as
follows:

- Send A4 On with remote: A4 is addressed

- Send A5 On with remote: A4 not addressed

- Macro sends A1, A2, A3: A4 not addressed

- Macro sends A Off: A4 not addressed and
should still be on.

When I try it here, it works exactly like
this. I'm using all LM465s. What kind of
module is your A4 (or whatever module it is).
Since I have your AHP file, if you tell me
what macro sequence to try out, I can do that
too.

I notice this most with my Living Room Lamp
(B2) when I use the In And Out Macro (B4-
On), In And Out Off (B4-Off), and Basement
Off (B5-Off).  It doesn't always happen,
and it might be related to the computer
being awake (i.e. I get the impression it
is more likely to happen if the computer is
on.)  It has definitely happened without
AHP being open.
