Great News!
« on: December 20, 2004, 06:14:11 AM »

I feel your pain. AHP is a buggy, non-
standard piece of garbage.  Stop trying to
make it work.  I am working on a
replacement for the software as I have
discovered work-arounds for all of the
problems like:

1. Endless loops of the same commands
2. Macro failure (daily for most, weekly
for a blessed few)
3. Many more!

A shame that I have to WRITE MY OWN
SOFTWARE to make this crap work.  Why
couldn't THEY have done it.

No fear, Beta version by spring.  The Alpha
is already more reliable than AHP.

Have fun in the meantime...

Will this support standalone operation of the
cm15a with conditional macros and dawn/dusk
triggered timers?

It appears that my concerns have been
confirmed, that x-10 doesnt hava clue about
how to create a commercial software product
for consumers. I have been in the business
for 20 years, and the posts in the forums
clearly indicate absolutely no Quality
Testing of the software before they started
shipping this product. I have found that
software from Smarthome works reliably ALL
THE TIME. I have given up on buying x-10
controllers. They just don't work!

Mike, I am quite sure that I will not be
able to help any issues involving
unplugging the USB device.  At that point
it is up to the firmware.  I am just going
to re-write AHP with more features and a
much better interface.

I highly recommend leaving the device
plugged into the USB port or switching to
the SmartHome device (from the comments
that I have read.)

Sol, certainly AHP is a bad Windows app.
No two ways about it.  I don't get the
crash problem too often, but the interface
drives me crazy.  It has a crazy resize on
startup glitch that often results in the
app appearing off the desktop (invisible.)
What a mess.  Couple this with the
obviously screwed up USB controller and it
is "Product of the Year."  Oh sorry, I
meant a "Noisy Misfire."

I am going to fix the software end, but the
hardware is up to X10 (God help us all at
this point.)
