CM15A Support has left the building ?
« on: March 02, 2005, 02:15:12 PM »

I've beeen living with CM15A problems like
everyone else for some time now.   I was
promissed a diagnostic CM15A many moons
ago ?  Have not been able to get X10
Support Techs to respond to any of my
emails or follow through with the unit and
updated software.

I can get the current unit to work fairly
reliably if I have a clean update (many
tries to update to 3.180 provided hours of
frustration, finaly got AHP off the machine
and a fairly stable update to 3.180
installed) and I leave a dedicated laptop
plugged in (with or without power) to the
USB interface of the CM15A.

I get lots of random weird things in the
activity monitor, once in a while something
will not work, RF range is only good enough
because I found the center of my use range
for the PalmPad and installed the CM15A in
the middle of that range (with laptop). My
wife is getting tired of explaining why we
have a laptop installed in the middle of
our family room....

Is there any end in site for this terrible
equipment, is anyone listening at X10 and
following through with promisses ?   When
will I get a working unit, as promissed ?
When is the next update to AHP due ?

Bob: I just sent you an e-mail about the
diagnostic CM15A.

I don't know when the next update to AHP will
be, but I'll try to make it soon.

AHPSupport

I also have sent emails as to the status of
the "repairability" of AHP and CM15A.  None
have been answered to date.  I, and I think
everyone else, want to know how and when the
hardware and software issues are going to be
fixed.  We all know that there has been
plenty of information on what does not work
flowing here and in other forums that should
have led to a working package by now.

So the questions is when do we see an end to
it?

A so far patient person...but look at
SteveRF for a quick reminder of how things
can get on this subject.

Thanks

PS
I think the rest of us would like to know
what you have to say in the emails to folks
instead of answering the posts on the forum.

My question is why does no one at X10 have
any answers? Everytime that I attempt to
get any information on what the status of
the CM15A repairs are, they tell me that
they know nothing, and that it is up to the
programming staff.  Anothergood line is
when asked a question of  technical nature,
they always tell me that they will have to
check with someone else to get me an
answer. Does anyone that works in tech
support actually now anything? Why don't
the people who actually know something man
the phone lines.

Ray Parker: I'd be happy to answer your
technical questions.

David K: I wish I could answer those
questions once and for all, but I can't.
We're using the information we've gotten from
users with the diagnostic interfaces, and are
working on a few different things.

AHP Tech Support:

I also was promised a diagnostic unit and
sent in the appropriate email response to
the invitation.  I have not received it.

Also, I cannot get 3.180 to install
properly. I am running on XP v2. AHP will
not restart after it is first updated.  I
need to go back to 3.178 and then update to
3.180. At that point I need to keep it
active or repeat the process.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

X10 -
Have you gotten diagnistic information back
from any of the users with the diagnostic
unit yet? I think we'd all be curious to
find out what you guys learn from it.

Gerry: I'll check and see what happened to
the diagnostic interface we were supposed to
send you.

Noam: There's nothing in particular to share
yet, but if there's something new I will
certainly let you know.

X10 - I read a message stating that the
diagnostic units will be shipped later to
Canada - I was wondering if they had been
sent as I haven't received one yet. If not
then what is the status of the units?

For Donald Mac
I received one of the diagnostic interfaces
last week, so yes they are shipping them to
Canada. It appeared shaky at first but now
appears to have settled down, and is
controlling the lights properly. I leave the
interface connected to the computer at all
times but the computer is only on for about 8
hours a day, as I like to change the program
for the lights from time to time.

Last month I was sent a new tested module. So
far it's been working without going dumb.
Once in a while it goes off 10 minutes. Other
than that it works.

It has some extra writing on the unit. How
can I tell if it's a diagnostic module?

I received an email last month indicating I
would be receiving a (I assume diagnostic)
new CM15A to resolve some of my problems.
So far, no device and no response to my
emails.

Can't imagine what the deal is here.
