How about a windows 2000 Driver !
« on: March 18, 2005, 11:04:17 PM »

Got my KIT today but no driver for the
CM15A. downloaded the standard driver kit
the "support" page has but Windows 2000
simply will not install the usb driver for
the CM15A.  X10 makes even the simplest
steps aggravating.

John:  You need to download the Active Home
Pro software, not the Active Home
software.  You should have recieved an e-
mail with the link.  Otherwise there is a
form you can fill out to have them re-send
it.

I am having the same problem.  See my other
post for what I learned.  Still no fix but
at least a description of why the driver
won't load

I am running AHP on a windows 2000 Server
and it works.  Had no problems loading the
software and drivers.  I did have a problem
running the upgrade routine from the Help
Menu.

John Jasper: If you have already installed
the AHP software you already have the
driver. It is located at: c:\program
files\common files\x10
\DriverInstall\Wireless Transceivers
If you haven't recieved the software yet get
ahold of x10 support.

I have the drivers in the proper folder but
they will not load.  Let me explain (from
my other post - CM15A USB drivers won't
load).

"The computer recognized a USB device was
plugged in but fails to identify it. The
driver will not load. AHP warns that the
module is not connected. When I try to
manually load the driver (by pointing
device manager to the folder with the .sys
and .inf files, I get an error message that
says "there is no information about your
hardware...". I called phone support and
they told me that I probably have a newer
version of the CM15A (since I ordered on 10
March) and there is prossibly some
difference in the hardware that makes
windows think the driver does not belong to
the newer CM15A. Phone tech support told me
to email ahpsupport@x10.com but I have not
gotten a response yet."

I will probably try one more time using a
sequence that someone suggested in a reply
to my post but after that, I am done with
the hours of trial and error.  They either
send me a fix or I send them back the
hardware.

I just received my CM15A. It was probably
shipped after March 12.  Did you try
uninstalling the software and reinstalling
it.

I tried a few times.  Some with upgrading
to 3.180 and some without.  I will try the
other things you suggested to me on the
other thread.  Thanks.

Hmm.  I remember X10 Pro saying last week
that the next release of AHPro will have a
new version of the driver.  I wonder if
this is to support new hardware and they
accidentally shipped the new hardware
before the required software update was
released.  Just a theory.

That seems to be what the guy from tech
support told me by phone, but until I get a
response from ahpsupport@x10.com, I won't
know.

I'm going to try the sequence tuicemen
suggested and see if it helps.

The sequence tuicemen  suggested worked. I
didn't even get to the point of an unknown
device. The driver loaded at start up.

The new driver is fixes a couple problems or
potential problems. There are no changes in
hardware that need new drivers.

Well all is good advice, and I have followed
to a point.  I don't even have a c:\program
files\common files\x10
\DriverInstall\Wireless Transceivers folder.

All I have is C:\Program Files\Common
Files\X10\Common- and in this folder is not
one *.inf file.  2 *.dll's and a *.sys file.

I have download 3.186 directly from the email
sent me, but no drivers...

Any thoughts???

Rick: Try installing the driver using the
driver installer on our software page:
