AHP not converting AH file
« on: March 30, 2005, 04:15:42 PM »

I finally bought AHP.  Now waiting on the
unit but have installed the software.

I have tried to open my AH file which I
currently use with a CM11A.  I repeatedly
get this message: "AHP Active Home
Professional has encountered a problem and
needs to close.  We are sorry for the
inconvenience."

I have uninstalled and re-installed 3 times.
I have tried before and after upgrading the
AHP version.

(Supposedly) being able to use your AH file
was a key reason I chose AHP over the
Smarthome product as I have @80
macros/timers spread accross 10 AH rooms.

I am running WIN XP PRO on a Compaq laptop
with 1G RAM and plenty of HD space.

Has anyone got any ideas why AHP is not
opening a working AH file?

Gadgenator: Did you upgrade to the latest
version of the software?  I have heard of
problems with the software not working
properly if the CM15a is not connected.

Take a look at page 16 of the manual (online
at
http://software.x10.com/pub/manuals/activehom
epro.pdf).  It indicates that you need to
change the "Files of Type" to the old
version to load the file.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for trying,

but those ideas don't solve it.

I tried to open my AH file exactly as
described in the AHP user manual (pg 16)
after upgrading to 3.183.  When this did not
work I removed AHP and re-installed back to
the original version downloaded and tried to
open the AH file and still it did not work.
Next, I then tried restoring my computer to
a previous date and installed AHP again.
This again did not let me open my AH file. I
again then upgraded AHP to 3.183 and it
still didn't work.

I can open my file with AH and I even
downloaded it to my CM11A again today.  I
would be glad to send my AH files to X10 if
they can solve this.

Something is amiss with the AHP software.

Gadgenator: Importing a file from the
original ActiveHome should work, and should
not crash. Clearly we have something wrong in
our import. Can you send me the ActiveHome
file you are trying to import (include both
the .X10 and .MAC file): ahpsupport@x10.com.

X10Pro, it is sent.  Thanks for checking
into this.  I would really like to use it
with AHP.

X10 Pro: While you are looking into import -
mine sets all timers to am, whether they
are am or pm in the AH file.

Steve: We'll take a look at that too. If you
want to send your files (both .X10 and .MAC)
to me, that might help.

I had the same problem way back when I
first imported, so the problem has been
around a while. My fix was just to change
them all manually. Not very elegant...but
it worked.
