Switch for Use with Halogen
« on: April 22, 2005, 02:22:22 AM »

Can someone advise which component I need if
I want to have a dimmable wall switch for
4x50W halogen lamps? Is it ok to use the
WS12A or do I need to buy an AM14A or
something else?

If the Halogen BULB itself is a 120 Volt
bulb, then you can use a WS12, or any other
dimming module.

If they are ALL 12-Volt bulbs with a
transformer, you have a good chance
of encountering problems with just about
any dimmer that you use.

(Depending on the transformer, some may
introduce severe line noise, enough to
cause interference with other X10 devices
nearby.  Dimmers WITHOUT a neutral wire
probably won't work at all.)

Mixed configurations with low/line voltage
light bulbs should be OK.
