Activity Monitor since v3.198
« on: December 20, 2005, 10:57:09 AM »

Curious development with Activity Monitor
since the v3.198 update.  It's possible this
was happening prior to this version, but I
didn't discover it until the v3.198 update.
I'm now on v3.199.

See if you can duplicate it....

First of all, my "Event History Length (# of
Events)" in Preferences is set to 1000, but
no matter what it's set to the results are
the same.

Here's the test...

1. Open Activity Monitor and click "File"
then "Clear Window"

2. MINIMIZE the Activity Monitor window.
(Don't close it.)

3. Pick ONE module and turn it on. (I'm using
my porch light for this test.)

4. Maximize the Activity Monitor window.  I
show 2 entries:

0 - 12/20/2005 9:21:27 am - Transmit - C8
(Front Porch)
1 - 12/20/2005 9:21:28 am - Transmit - C On
(Front Porch)

5. CLOSE the Activity Monitor window.

6. OPEN Activity Monitor again.

Now how many entries do you have?  Do you
still have just 2 lines?  Good for you.  My
Activity Monitor log is now FULL.  My first 2
entries are repeated over and over again.
1001 lines worth and all I did was turn on
one light just one time.

Is this a feature or a bug?

Curious to know if it's just me or everyone
else, too.

Regards,
Marty K.

I had the same problem after I upgraded from
3.187 to 3.198.

I went back to 3.187.

I downloaded 3.198 to both my Win 98 and
Win XP Pro machines and noticed the same
problem with the activity monitor that you
had. So I also went back to 3.187. Sure Hope
they fix this soon!
Happy Holidays,

yep. same here with win98. and when I tried
to scroll thru it with my mouse wheel,
everything slowed to a halt. Scrolling with
the wheel in the "all room view" stalled my
puter, too, but that's nothing new for this
old box. Looks like I'll need to finally
upgrade to a new system to deal with X-10's
upgrades, or I'll NEVER get my AHP's
wrinkles ironed-out. Maybe Santa has me on
his "nice" list... ;)

Glad to see this post.  I also have the
exact same issue, although I am getting
this the 1st time I open the activity log
and I am using 3.199.  I clear the log, can
minimize the log(or even exit AHP)and after
one event, the whole log is full.  I
haven't changed anything in the past couple
of months, so I don't know when it
started.  It wasn't doing this the last
time I used it.  Am using XP on a newer
computer.  Anyone know of a solution? How
do I go back to version 3.187?

I just discovered this as well- I cannot
even change the number of lines in the
activity monitor.  If I change it to 100 or
500, it just goes back to 1000!
