I was talking to a tech who has a "Spy
Store". This guy does stuff for law
enforcement and other high profile projects.
He pretty much pooh-poohed X-10's stuff. I
was talking to him about why my reception
was so lousy, and stuff. 'Got aluminum
siding that I think is causing me a
headache. Also, there may be some wire mesh
in these old plaster walls, so I think I'm
living in a Faraday Cage...
He said something to the effect that coax,
(we weren't on the subject of CAT3) would
give you about 400 feet, I think it was. I
don't know if not having any shielding will
erode your signal, it seems like it might,
but they make in-line amps for coax cable
runs. I would think that, if you could put
one of these in-line amps midway between
your run, you might be okay, but I don't
know for sure.
